The Monk profession is the healer of Guild Wars. In addition to healing, the Monk also has the ability to buff both themselves and party members. With the Primary / Secondary Profession setup of Guild Wars, this does not necessarily make them just a support class. Monks are most often seen taking an offensive role during combat in addition to their healing support.

Against traditional monsters, many Monks utilize the skills of a secondary profession or rent Henchmen to assist where needed. However, it is not wise to underestimate the power of a smiting Monk. Dead comes quick to those who desire.

Divine Favor
For each rank of Divine Favor, allies are healed for 3.2 whenever you cast Monk spells on them. Several Monk skills, especially spells related to energy gain and healing, become more effective with higher Divine Favor.

Healing Prayers
Many Monk skills, especially spells related to healing, become more effective with higher Healing Prayers.

Protection Prayers
Many Monk skills, especially enchantments which prevent damage or provide healing, become more effective with higher Protection Prayers.

Smiting Prayers
Many Monk skills, especially those related to dealing holy damage, become more effective with higher Smiting Prayers. Holy damage is especially powerful against the undead.
